Scrapbook

When we first looked at the Siobhan Davies Archive I was automatically drawn to find the work 'Carnival' as this was a piece I had looked at in detail at college and had used as the key influence for our end of year performance, where we adapted our own work to fit into the key ideas of animals. We looked in detail and re-created the bird section of the dance also so watching this again was enjoyable. As Siobhan's influence for the piece was the music 'Canival of Animals' by Camille Saint-Saens that is what i noticed the most, besides the dancing, however I also noticed the costumes and though the dancers are portraying animals their costumes are not a literal translation of this. There was a lot of information and film footage of this piece although one performance of this that is in the archive was performed by the Rambet Company.
